On Wednesday the 21st of October, I published the results of our latest study on Google’s Rich Answers. In that study, I showed how Google’s use of these types of results in the SERPs has increased over the past year. This is at the top of the results after asking Google, “When was Barack Obama born?

The top results for most keyphrases are either a Wikipedia page, a site that is very focused around community, or a clear leader in an industry. There are exceptions, but links tend to go to social sites (even Wikipedia has social aspects) by the people who use them. These days however, things are very different.

Over to Helga: Google, as well as other search engines, consider links the primary factors for ranking websites and pages. It is increasing search traffic from Google. There are many factors which determine the weight of a particular link in Google and its impact on future rankings. Nofollow links also matter.

Some success is from sites I purchased which were ranking on the first few pages of Google and I built some great links to get them on the first page. Ranking for how to lose weight fas t is much easier than how to lose weight because less people are optimising for that term and it will take less links to get on the first page of Google.
