I spent $50 of my own money to buy drinks for people in line, some of whom waited even longer than two and a half hours. I took it on myself to go buy 20 bottles of cold water and soda to hand out – you would have thought I was Mother Teresa! We would have to overnight there. The airlines don’t have it.

I write this because I find it so frustrating that our tourism, advertising, and PR leaders are still doing things in such old-fashioned, expensive, boring, and ineffective ways. I have been giving free talks on this stuff since early 2005. I think they’re done by people who only know TV advertising. I hate Flash sites.

People are more likely to comment on, share, and buy your products and services. But someone that you meet in person is going to be much more highly engaged and that person is much more likely to become a subscriber, to share what you’re doing with other people, to leave a comment, and to eventually buy something that you are selling as well.

What if a publisher/distributor like Mountain Apple Company set up a site like this and offered something new and special every day/week? People love discounts, so they buy the bundles, even if they might not want or use everything in it, but because the things they do want are cheaper than list price. You can then share this link.

I first came across the benefits of this tool when I started advertising on Facebook. Spyfu helps you to see which companies are buying ads for certain search terms, and even shows the exact ad copy that they’re using. That curiosity leads to people buying the product, and, people loved it (this is important).
