The people we tend to be drawn to in real life are people who pause in conversation to let you have a say, people who ask questions about you, people who have a genuine interest in what you’ve got to say. I have a folder in my feed reader for each of my main topics which contains a number of key blogs and news sites in that niche.

Usually a few concepts spark conversations and get retweeted and shared around. Content from all over the interwebs are being aggregated over on Delicious. Right now, you’ll find the likes of Tamar , Jonathan , Lisa and Rebecca in my feed reader, and consequently, in that box. It’s awesome people can promote knowing trick in the book about facebook and twitter, but do they know how to read the subtext of a situation and really get in someones world in a conversation.

If you’re going to use any of the tools below, I recommend you use them not only to give you an overview of your projects, but as indicators as to what you can change to increase your conversions. With Google Analytics, you would see huge traffic spikes the next day, and miss the opportunity to maximise conversions on that traffic.

Feed readers are used to read your content. People use search engines, feed readers, and social media because they provide functionality missing from most websites. And even cooler than all that, you can display a list of everyone’s most-popular favorites, very similar to how Delicious works. Chat forum.

By studying their feed, you can learn a lot more about how important social media is to them. It’s also a conversation medium. Imagine receiving over 500 updates a day and not checking your feed reader (or your FriendFeed) in 2 days. FriendFeed isn’t just an aggregator, though.

I especially sites like Facebook and FriendFeed which allow me to learn more about your interests, see pictures and videos of you with friends, family and co-workers, and see what you find interesting via Google Reader , Delicious or through a number of other channels. I want to keep having meaningful conversations with you.
