Twitter sent an email around to users yesterday, giving four suggestions for getting the most out of Twitter in 2011: Follow your interests: Follow the people who share your passions. Return to Twitter: A call for lapsed users to return to  a service that apparently now has over 200 million user accounts. Ask your Twitter friends for recommendations on who to go with. The study conducted a survey distinguishing those who actively use the internet, and then evaluating participants for mental health issues. But the participants who used Twitter and Facebook were one third less likely to develop systems of depression than those who don’t use social media. Regular online activity can help to decrease social isolation, especially among those who may have impaired mobility to keep in contact with friends and family, and helps to expand social circles, according to Medical Daily. 1% of users are ‘creators’ that will participate a lot, including adding photos, starting new discussions and taking part in activity across the community. With more low-effort forms of activity becoming commonplace, such as clicking to rate a piece of content, the ratio of editors to lurkers is likely to rise.
