But I use Hootsuite (affiliate link) for that; I’m in Hootsuite all the time, why would I leave to go schedule tweets at yet another site? All of these are things you can set on autopilot with the help of a 3rd party, but you can not do it directly from Twitter.

You can use a tool like SocialOomph , HootSuite , or Seesmic Desktop to keep your Twitter account updated and manage certain aspects of your Twitter account. If you use the auto-DM features of these sites, be sure that you keep your message simple and don’t include links. You must be logged in to post a comment.

Scheduling some messages to post automatically throughout the day will mean you’re visible to more people, seen consistently and become a familiar site in your followers’ stream. I’ve been using Buffer since July 2011 and seen great results myself. But before Buffer came along I used Hootsuite to schedule my tweets.
