There are pros and cons for all of them, but it depends a lot on whether you want to spend any money, want to have your own domain name, what kind of options and functionalities you want and what kind of skills you have in doing the design and maybe programming. I will go through to most widely used blogging services.

Remember, the more you clean up those old posts the more they will pay you back with increased search engine traffic or organic traffic from social networks like Twitter and Facebook. you need a good tool to redirect user from an out-of-date URL to a new one, check out the Redirection plugin for WordPress.

You can even Blog using tumblr - which is a hybrid online social network and Blogging platform - or you can Blog for an existing online publisher like The Huffington Post. The default choice for a great Blogging platform is WordPress. WordPress makes this (somewhat) easier because you can buy and customize themes.

You could almost skip the aspect of setting up the layout of the blog and just start posting, going with the default blog template provided by Tumblr. It is also great for socializing and building your own community. However, if you want to set up a business site, I suggest WordPress. The WordPress Installation.
