A look at the top two to three posts hosted on the website will give you an idea of the blog’s quality. Try Compete, Quantcast and Alexa, but be aware that none offer completely accurate data. If most of the posts look spammy, are badly structured, or are just generally low quality, you should be wary.

If you host your blog on a blogging platform subdomain, you can’t expect to review expensive products or offer lavish giveaways. But for everyone else, rectify this problem by simply purchasing and hosting your own domain; I promise, it will be worth it. Use your own domain. Personalize your email pitches.

Compete and Quantcast should have some information for you if the sites are of a decent size. The only costs are hosting. Alexa is quite skewed towards the IM niche as a lot of marketers have the toolbar installed on their browser and then visit this site. You’ll find the figures look high for a number of blogs in this industry.

Even though in March 2012, Snatchly boasted more than 15,000 registered and more than 100,000 unique visitors, the traffic data has fluctuated between 6,000 and 14,500 unique visitors according to recent data from Quantcast.
