Between my laptop, iPhone, and iPad, I ensure that I’m consistently plugged in and attempting to stay on top of my inboxes. Travel – because of how much I travel, I’m always receiving travel confirmations, updates and changes. I haven't even brought mail onto the iPad yet.

The Time sold 5,000 iPad apps in 3 days at £9.99, the Wall Street Journal has 10,000 customers paying $17.29 And Wired is apparently selling more copies on the iPad than in print (print sales were quoted at 79,000). Then it’ll be clear whether the approach you’ve taken to the iPad is actually a solution, or just a very temporary bump.

There certainly is some duplication between the capabilities of each of these gadgets but they do provide me the full suite of tools that I inevitably need during my travels. I also always have a magazine or two and at least a book besides the magazines and books that I keep on my iPad and iPhone.

There are a variety of tools available for the iPhone and iPad plus I can access from any computer with a browser. Not only does this serve as a backup of those files, it also allows me to access from my iPhone, iPad, or any other computer. I already travel a lot. So far, it’s pretty awesome!

After a few days of messing around with it, the iPad reminds me very much of that remote control with a cord. Most of the chatter leading up to the iPad’s release was around how would it perform against standard computing tasks. I use my iPad instead of my iPhone, not instead of my MacBook. Same with email.

While it pre-dates the Internet (and commercial air travel, ATMs, competitive eating, Red Bull and a lot of other stuff we take for granted), its core premise serves as the foundation for social media effectiveness. Wifi – suddenly the internet is more accessible when you’re travelling – by train for example. I’m not a huge fan of Apple’s iPad , but I’ve found it’s great for content consumption, as is the Kindle , and as, no doubt, at least some of the Android tablets will be. blog comments powered by Disqus Blog Partners:
