I use networking as a very broad term which chould include creating connections with bloggers, finding companies who can help you to get your offering out there and utilising other areas of social media to get eyeballs on your creation. Less competing sites on the first page = more clicks on you. This is very popular in the UK.

I’m competing against them in one industry and all factors would suggest I should outrank them, but I simply don’t. The first thing that struck me about the results here is how well the 5th site was ranking when it was so young compared to the other competing sites. 1 site ranking Wikihow. What did you get out of the post?

Their company is worth hundreds of billions and mine, well…isn’t. The “work&# involved in running most websites can usually be outsourced very cheaply so sellers are often selling because they want a large lump-sum that they can invest into other projects. Will you sign a 6 / 12 month non-compete agreement? What is compete ranking and unique count? Why are you selling? An average?

Yet, Compete isn’t the only tool showing them to be receiving a lot more traffic than TechCrunch these days.
