This is particularly appealing for publishers with content that may be of interest to specific audiences as opposed to the wider Digg user base. In my post on news sites on the new Digg I noted that NBC has created a series of city-specific profiles to target local markets. Will it work with local news? NBC is trying to find out.

The Huffington Post The Huffington Post has added a “Hot on Facebook” module to its home page and in a sidebar on posts: I like this and think it will do a good job of encouraging user clicks, similar to the Digg widget that has worked well on news sites. Seeing that stories have been liked thousands of times certainly caught my interest.

reports from its search page are not very complete or accurate (you get better data on URLs you’ve personally shortened in your history when signed into bit.ly). As Twitter is so popular with the journalism community it seems a natural choice. Unfortunately I discovered that the “total clicks” figures bit.ly

Even though this concept looks similar to social bookmarking sites like Digg and Reddit, it operates differently. Ning communities. Getting traffic to your blog through Ning communities is a great way to get traffic to your blog, yet few bloggers use this method. Not all Ning communities bring results.
