My suggestion would be to create a vibrant community with them – one which is both online and offline, one where you can get instant feedback, one where their ideas matter to your research and development groups, one where they co-author thought leadership with you and one that rewards them for their loyalty to your firm. You could post on community review sites or live-stream it to the masses. Community blogging sites. Social curation and bookmarking sites. For brands, social media networking sites offer an opportunity to build awareness, create a community of customers and followers and drive traffic to websites. What about forums?

Digg has changed it’s social networking strategy from spotlighting key influencers who “digg&# a lot of articles to collect followers (crowd gatherers) to news from your friends. The Digg Situation. The new Digg looks, therefore, like a mix of Facebook, Twitter, and RSS. Strangers become friends.

My uncle knows a young girl from his community, a recent college graduate, who is looking for a social media job. Online is a global enabler of friendships, communities and networks acros sthe globe between people that does not necessarily have to be in the same geographic location. Some of you may remember a site called Digg, where you could post links and people would vote on them. It pretty much destroyed the community I’d created. But I think community is just as important as content, particularly if you’re trying to monetize your blog. Build community. I’m going to become well-known.
