So, the question becomes not whether to respond, but how, because if you stick your head up, vomit your messages all over anyone who will listen, then disappear, you’re not going to convince anyone. You’ll end up with a bunch of people asking you questions with no response. Use of social media tools brings with it expectations.

Questioning. I posted a message of tolerance on Facebook; one commenter responded that “it is always the same religion that perpetrates these atrocities” – something that just isn’t true (think Oklahoma, or Atlanta, or even Sandy Hook). I don’t know the answers to the questions I posed earlier.

You don’t know what conversations happened – between the agency/agencies in question and the company; within the company or among the various stakeholders at the table. Make yourself look uninformed to all parties in question. Don’t know what discussions happened internally. You see the reported outcome. Yeah, right.

So that brings me back to the question, what information does share of voice provide that guides an action? Comments or angry tweets below, or to @theelusivefish. What if their factories just burned down and there is endless discussion as to whether they will be able to survive the quarter? Of course we wouldn’t. What say you all?
