Here’s a better answer: In ten years, I will most likely be serving as an advertising executive utilizing my background in PR to position pay-for-play advertising segments on TV as earned media. An advertisement is not news. Seems pay-for-play (see “in broadcasting”) is becoming an increasing threat to the PR profession.

UMASS Dartmouth Study Shows Social Media Reduces Recruiting Costs for Higher Ed

Below are some additional statistics that I found interesting: Social media has reduced traditional marketing costs: 33% reduction on print advertising. It shows that social media allows these institutions to more effectively target candidates while reducing marketing spend by up to 33 percent on certain mediums.
