Choose metrics that make the most sense for the tactics you’re employing, and monitor results to determine which activities to increase and where a change of course may be needed. Wikis (Wikipedia, hundreds of specific topic-focused wikis). Finally, as wonderful as the book is, its a tad long.

Take legal information as an example — I may have access to all of the same legal resources as a lawyer, but I don’t have the training necessary to know where to start looking. It can either be pushed to you (RSS and email for example), or you can set out looking for it yourself (on Google, for example).

Some have suggested that the principles of PLEs can be presented in a software tool (see Plex , for example), while others suggest it to be more of a concept than a particular tool.
