A large (albeit, relevant) following is important to me… I am working to gain credibility in social media marketing and community building while building out my business. Two, it makes the content I share more valuable, as those that follow me know that when I share something, it may actually be worth checking out.

I recommend The Social Media Bible or The New Community Rules: Marketing On The Social Web if you are looking for a resource like that. I've got to believe that anyone with a background like his would still see the value in old media, and realize that not all marketing campaigns ROI relate directly to sales and in fact larger issues.

Twitter Tools – The Twitter Tools plugin simply helps you be more efficient by automatically tweeting your blog posts once you publish. As of this writing, Jon claims to have received over 1,700 subscribers, 1,000 Twitter followers and 600 likes/comments on Facebook prior to even writing a single post and only publishing his movie style trailer promoting his upcoming blog launch. Pretty good numbers if you ask me.
