Some even boast high rankings and good sized communities. His blog is full with regular small byte-sized updates about U2, sports, movies, and more. What Advice Can You Give to New Bloggers? It took me 6 months to acquire a good amount of traffic and cultivate a community on my blog and the same goes for any new blogger.

Social media connections are those I know through a variety of online forums, the blogosphere, Twitter, and the like (but I generally don’t befriend someone immediately; I still give it time). I get fixated on one community and ditch the last, yet I still have my profiles on them and they usually get outdated within minutes.

As tomorrow is an historic day – The Australian and other news.com sites move behind the paywall – what WILL we pay for, what SHOULD we pay for and what OTHER revenues streams are being missed by News.com refusal to build online communities around their content? And the use of YouTube etc to distribute the news about the Paywall.

With Twitter being so incredibly large and vast, there are different types of mini-communities. Topical profiles are what I’d call the new norm. I ran a sports site until just recently, and I LOVED to talk sports from that Twitter account. not so much sports fans). Call them cliques if you will.

My first social “network&# was also on AOL. I became a big fan of playing games (bingo especially) at a little hub on AOL called RabbitJack’s Casino , which was considered a unique community within the AOL borders with a close-knit group of people from all walks of life.
