Social media connections are those I know through a variety of online forums, the blogosphere, Twitter, and the like (but I generally don’t befriend someone immediately; I still give it time). I get fixated on one community and ditch the last, yet I still have my profiles on them and they usually get outdated within minutes.

Study those blogs to grasp the blog’s culture and why (or what criteria is used) to cover a specific product or service. Some blogs cover software only by being voted upon by the user , for example, and your press release won’t even fly for that category. Let people know you exist.
