Directory Submissions By nature, directory links are of a very poor quality. Sometimes I’ll also pay $100 or so to BOTW.org which is a human-filtered directory which can give me some great link juice. As soon as I’m cached in this directory I find my rankings to increase almost instantly. This is gold.

Although I don’t have any goals for the size of the community here, I still think it is an interesting metric to monitor. If you’re reading this in a feed reader or inbox, thanks for subscribing! It would make sense if you get a lot of links from authorative websites, but not a ton of article directories and the like.

Article directories? And for the record, EzineArticles was not the only article directory affected by this algorithm change. Here are others: HubPages Buzzle Associated Content Articles Base Find Articles These are all sites that can be referred to as “article directories&# under the traditional definition of article directory.

What does it really take to build a hustling and bustling blog with a thriving and active community around it? Google likes a natural link building footprint, which includes links from various sources, like blogs (in-content and comments), article directories, Web 2.0 How do you know whether a blog is Do or Nofollow?

NoFollow Certain Pages I did say there may be some tactics that people frown upon in this post, and this is the first. The Nofollow attribute was first introduced by search engines to help stop spam on the web from ranking in search results. Similarly, I nofollow links to my about page, my category links and my RSS feed.
