Amid yesterday’s comments about my announcement of a domain I bought to shorten web addresses , Leo noticed [link] redirected to [link] and wondered why I didn’t use a WordPress plugin instead. It allowed me to publish any blog post on this site and automatically create a short URL with this blog’s domain, e.g. [link].

Sidebar – URL shortening is all the rave, and bit.ly Sidebar bookmarklet. It makes sharing extremely easy, and will automatically track all your URL shortening so you can see how much activity results from what you share. SocialMention.com – What a great free tool. Dropbox – I heart Dropbox.

Google Reader is a very popular online tool for reading RSS feeds. Add subscription will take any a keyword, feed name, feed URL or web page URL and attempt to parse it to find the feed you want. And finally, if you put in a site URL or feed URL, it will add the correct feed for you. Use A Bookmarklet.

When you tap into this power and combine Gmail with some other tools, it is perhaps the most essential site ever developed. How to blog from Gmail (Gmail + Wordpress/TypePad/Blogger + IMified). I scan 275 RSS feeds in Google Reader and I use dozens of bookmarklets and shortcuts to help me manage it all. I revel in information.

To simplify this process, we have been using a free WordPress add-on called NextScripts Social Network Auto-Poster. As soon as each post is uploaded via WordPress, this tool automatically shares the featured image (or whatever content you like) with your social networks. of the URLs mentioned above.
