There were no search engines and directories were fairly small and specialized. We’ve become stingy with links because we want to keep our readers on our own pages, viewing our AdSense ads and buying through our affiliate links. We allow links in the comments, but we nofollow them so no link juice escapes.

Some success is from sites I purchased which were ranking on the first few pages of Google and I built some great links to get them on the first page. Ranking for how to lose weight fas t is much easier than how to lose weight because less people are optimising for that term and it will take less links to get on the first page of Google.

Although factors other than links apply, I will say that Google are very favourable towards Wikihow for a large number of terms. Interestingly, the site dogobedienceshortcuts.com is relying heavily on article directories and Squidoo to give it the links it needs in order to rank highly for this profitable phrase.

The benefit of directories like Ezine and Article Dashboard is that you don’t have to build your own website and you can usually rank quite highly for the phrases used in an article title because the site has so much ‘weight’ in Google. And remember, you are a writer. please i’ll like to understand this.
