Is Quora still a significant social media destination? When the service was first launched, I was (like many others) flooded with notifications of new followers and invitations to follow back, to the point of annoyance. Here’s one I wrote in January 2011 that continues to attract readers. It’s based on how I helped one company start its journey into social media by creating a Facebook secret group. The plan was that once we’d gained trust and confidence, we’d look at expanding activity across other social platforms.

While I’m not calling them my un-resolutions, here’s what I will try to do more – or less – of in 2011. In 2011, I would like to see WUL really take flight; not just from a content point of view, but continue to expand and become a landing pad for global voices of public relations and social media.

Similar to other social media platforms, YouTube’s algorithm has changed as the site has evolved. In 2020, 74% of US adults said they had used YouTube, beating out all other social networks. The next highest usage was Facebook at 68%. 2005-2011: Clicks & views. Notifications. Restricted Mode.

All the comments were thoughtful, but there were a few that made me think a lot more about this whole “social media&# thing. But truth be told, after a while, this ‘social media’ stuff has made me consciously LESS social both in person and online, and I have my reasons. Interesting.
