Optimize, a [VIDEO] book review

Jeff Esposito

A few weeks back the folks over at Wiley passed me a copy of Lee Odden’s Optimize to do a video book review. The book itself is an outline for using content, social media and search engine optimization together to maximize success. Kind of like a big gooey PB&J sandwich. My full review is below: This post contains video, click here if you are having trouble viewing.

How ebay could care less about a fraud call

Jeff Esposito

Yesterday I got some fishy emails from eBay noting that I had printed a boat ton of shipping labels and was charged for them. Upon checking my eBay and PayPal accounts, there was nothing there so, I figured it was just a phishing scheme… unfortunately it was not. My account got hacked and I got charged close to $400 for shipping labels for something that I had shipped out in July.

Can @jasmollica pick NFL Week 3 games better than social media?

Jeff Esposito

Welcome to Week 3 of the NFL season. Hope your team is showing some promise, or at least giving you hope that good things are on the horizon. If you have been picking the week’s winners each week, I am sure that you’ve had a few games that made you scratch your head. I know that I sure have, especially since I’ve been selecting each week’s winners using buzz from social media plugged into some math formulas ( click here for more info).

Can Social Media Predict Week 1 of the 2012 Season better than @mpace101?

Jeff Esposito

The Esposito household is divided come Sundays and Mondays. I am not going to lie, but today is a lot like Christmas. Instead of avoiding MLB and the Titanic that is the Boston Red Sox, I get to plop my butt on the couch and start watching some football when the G-men take on the Cowboys. To kick off this year’s NFL season, I am going to continue with last year’s tradition of using social media to predict this year’s weekly winners ( click here for full methodology) against a group of friends wh

Why I am glad social media wasn’t around 9/11/01

Jeff Esposito

A lot has changed in my life, and in the world since the morning of September 11, 2001. Back then I was in college working in the mail room trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. In the 11 years since, I have lived in a number of states, got married and had a son. We have also seen the Internet grow from a budding phenomenon into a fully-integrated social ecosystem.

NFL Week 2 NFL Picks via Social Media

Jeff Esposito

Unlike the NFL this is no typo, we’re picking games via social media. A week into this young NFL season, our social media NFL picks sit at 8-8, one game shy of the numbers predicted by Michael Pace. If you are new to the blog or this series, I’ll be selecting winners of the weekly NFL games using social media mentions charted by Lithium Social Media Monitoring and run through a series of formulas ( full stats here ), against a friend from across the interwebs.

Do you have balls?

Jeff Esposito

If you have been reading this blog for any period of time, you probably know that I am passionate about sports. One of my favorite hobbies is collecting sports memorabilia and my first collectible came from a company called Steiner Sports. So fast forward a dozen years and a chance Twitter conversation with Heather at Wiley who was asking if anyone wanted to review a book by Steiner’s founder Brandon Steiner … I am not sure how quick I could have raised my hand and was glad that I di
