There are several other options, such as Flickr, Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, etc… even Ping.fm. Plus if you dont cross post the same URLs, its a good way to see which platform drives more traffic, builds connections, Amplify or Twitter. I don’t auto-post to all of those, but it’s nice to have the option.

Along with Twitter, HootSuite can also connect you to your Facebook (profiles and pages), LinkedIn, Myspace, WordPress (.com com blogs), Ping.fm, and FourSquare accounts. Ditto if you use Ping.fm to update your accounts and you send an update to Ping.fm along with Twitter, Facebook, etc. Team Collaboration.

I find it to be especially valuable and hassle-free for updating Twitter, Facebook, and LInkedin simultaneously. It works like bit.ly, but incorporates all URL shorteners into the data mix. See an example at the bottom of this post (the little squares that animate when you put your cursor over them). I implement bit.ly
