Use HootSuite to publish content to multiple social media accounts and/or platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Ping.fm (which pushes to many other platforms) and now they’ve just added WordPress functionality. HootSuite features it’s own URL shortner ow.ly with stats. displays notifications for new messages.

The first step is entering a name and RSS or Atom URL for your feed. You can also choose your preference of URL shorteners – I leave that at bit.ly utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter to the URL of feed items click on from a Twitterfeed link, and it will show up in Google Analytics as Twitterfeed.

There are several other options, such as Flickr, Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, etc… even Ping.fm. Plus if you dont cross post the same URLs, its a good way to see which platform drives more traffic, builds connections, Amplify or Twitter. I don’t auto-post to all of those, but it’s nice to have the option.

TweetDeck may have its advantages with a clean interface and URL shortener, but when it comes down to it, HootSuite delivers more value in these areas: Speed: TweetDeck’s Adobe Air is a massive resource hog. Even though there are a lot more social media sites out there, like LinkedIn, these ideas can work equally well on those sites, too.

Along with Twitter, HootSuite can also connect you to your Facebook (profiles and pages), LinkedIn, Myspace, WordPress (.com com blogs), Ping.fm, and FourSquare accounts. Ditto if you use Ping.fm to update your accounts and you send an update to Ping.fm along with Twitter, Facebook, etc. Team Collaboration.
