You have probably heard of some of these strategies before, but hopefully those will at least include an extra tip or two that you might not have tried yet. Submit your blog to blog directories. Complete your social network and forum profiles.

There were no search engines and directories were fairly small and specialized. We allow links in the comments, but we nofollow them so no link juice escapes. As the search engines get smarter, and the value of comment links, forum links, and social media links drops, the value of in-content links (i.e. Who else thinks this way?

Directory Submissions By nature, directory links are of a very poor quality. Sometimes I’ll also pay $100 or so to BOTW.org which is a human-filtered directory which can give me some great link juice. As soon as I’m cached in this directory I find my rankings to increase almost instantly. This is gold.

August 1st : 8,174 August 31st : 8,814 Change : +640 I picked up about 300 subscribers in the last few days which are yet to register, so expect the count to tip past 9,000 very soon. It would make sense if you get a lot of links from authorative websites, but not a ton of article directories and the like. But most of directory links.

You could simply buy directory links, sponsor blog posts, and even have Wordpress themes developed which included a link to your site in the footer. I didn’t focus on directory submissions, forum links, paid links, article directories, or anything of the sort. These days however, things are very different.
