Now, I’m not suggesting Foursquare will ever approach Twitter’s level of ubiquity, much less Facebook’s. Because Foursquare makes very little sense unless you’re in a physical location like a store, restaurant, etc. At least it is for me.

Opportunities Via Geography Recently, I was in downtown Flagstaff (where I live) and used Foursquare to check-in at a local restaurant. That type of rifle shot, competitive marketing would be unthinkable in the “real world&# , but it happens every minute of every day on Foursquare. That’s the Opportunity Economy at work.

This allows Yelp to strengthen loyalty among Elite Squad members, offers an impetus for wanna-be-members to post additional reviews; and, makes the site content stronger – keeping the broader community active and engaged. I blithely commented that online form-building app Wufoo.com is an example of this, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized Wufoo is in fact at the nexus of a number of significant and remarkable web trends, both emerging and well-established.
