Google Trends I rarely build new sites these days (I buy profitable ones, instead) but my most recent was in December, with my $1m case study. I of course like seeing the traffic go up, but I’m more focused on building a community than seeing some nice spikes in my Google Analytics account. That way there is going to be a year-long blog growth case study that people can follow and learn from. I don’t rely on this site to make money; I simply enjoy writing here.

Yet, Compete isn’t the only tool showing them to be receiving a lot more traffic than TechCrunch these days. I personally don’t care for their constant posts about Twitter, but the Twitter community does. Once you know this kind of thing, you can produce more of what works for you and your community.

First, if you look at their traffic stats with Compete you can see that they have traffic spikes and dips at around the same time: Then, looking at feed subscribers , despite the large difference at the start of the graph, their growth rate is on a very similar consistent rise.
