I’m competing against them in one industry and all factors would suggest I should outrank them, but I simply don’t. Attractionhowto.com is a really terrible website and doesn’t even have the six pages I counted unless you include their RSS feed. 1 site ranking Wikihow. What did you get out of the post?

Head on over to their homepage and enter the niche that you’re writing in or even the RSS feed of one of your favourite blogs and you’ll instantly see their blog posts which went viral. I’ve just added You to RSS Feeder. BTW, nice post. Really useful for me (and many many many others). Glad you found us as well!

A site’s authority may rapidly rise and fall depending on what the blogosphere is discussing at the moment, and how often a site produces content being referenced by other sites. If you go by RSS feed subscribers and Technorati rank, you might think they still are. Last year TechCrunch were a much bigger blog than Mashable.

It’s aimed at a blogosphere where there weren’t millions of blogs in each niche, all working hard to grow an audience. With over 4 million RSS subscribers according to Feedburner, it’s clear they’re not struggling. My audience has grown steadily with virtually no marketing, and I have no niche to compete with.
