I was competing with thousands of other job applicants with my traditional cover letter and resume, and regardless of my qualifications, was often buried in an inbox of competition. Personal Blog – I can’t say enough about how having a personal blog that you contribute to regularly can stand you out from the crowd.

This is especially the case when you offer a product or service that is provided by major players that are hard to compete solely on price with. Despite working hard to build a better blog, I’ve been turned down again by the Ad Age Power 150. For those that don’t, the Ad Age Power 150 is a list of the top ranking English language marketing blogs in the world. Of course self-proclaimed, but the reality, there really isn’t another resource that competes these days.

Another reason was my growing love of competing technologies and less favorable opinions of the home brew. This isn’t a knock on Microsoft, I just find myself more drawn to competing products. So now, I move on to the next chapter in my professional life (blog post soon to come on that!).
