The influencers behind forums are often the owners, but sometimes the moderators or just active users. I know this because that is my market.

Forums Message boards are really the first internet form of social media, after IRC. No matter what niche your business is in, there’s a great chance there are a number of active forums on the topic which you can participate in. Forums are also a great place to lurk and listen to what your customers are saying.

Add an avatar and a bio at the minimum. There’s no SEO value to these comments (they’re nofollowed by default), and all this approach does is makes you lose credibility in the eyes of the blogger. There is no reason to make a personal request. Not humanizing your profile. Twitter is also about real relationships.
