Having a large audience is important in the advertising world. Responding to a comment, tweet or post using the person’s ACTUAL name (even if you have to look it up) builds community. Audiences are disengaged: Generally speaking, one reason a large audience is necessary in advertising is that the response rate is low.

Why I’m not writing about Google+ yet.

There also isn’t direct advertising on Google+, though there IS a handy search tool called “Sparks&# , but its completely organic without any advertising. I think it lets people know that their comments will be more widely read and also lets them know that this is info I’ve shared with lots of people.

Yes, the free version includes advertising, but I don’t mind the advertising – after all, someone has to pay for the services I’m receiving. What I like: Unobtrusive: Its a single email once a day. The paid version provides for ad-free emails. That would be worth paying for!
