You can’t change the word list once a cloud has been created. For example if a respondent repeats the question asked in the answer (as is frequently the case) you can’t suppress those words which often gives an inaccurate representation of key words. However, it has numerous limitations too.

In the current issue of Inside Knowledge magazine, editor Jerry Ash raises the same question that Chris Hearne brought up in this blog a few days ago : If virtual is so great, how come conferences are booming? More and more, people are reaching out to their extended networks of colleagues to ask questions and share ideas and best practices.

Things like tag clouds, categories, search boxes, links to other bloggers aren’t really helpful. You can create YouTube videos, Slideshare presentations, answer questions in forums such as yahoo answers and Quora. Most people cram their sidebars with lots of information in order to look like they have been around for a while.

Connectbeam raises a few IP questions as usual with respect to who owns what, the company or me. So as a user, I will only be given access to the bookmarks and tag clouds I am allowed to see, i.e. those from the communities I belong to. What is questionable. or just for me. 2 integration with search engines.

For instance, they might want to comment but not know what to write: if you ask a specific question, this makes it easier for them to engage. A tag cloud – fiddly to use and with a tendency to look messy. Fix it: Every time you write a post, ask yourself “what do I want readers to do after reading this post?”
