Blogging Hands down, WordPress is THE blogging solution. Sure there are others, but WordPress is so damn good, I won’t even pretend to mention other solutions. In addition, WordPress’ sister offerings, BBpress and Buddypress offer message board and social network features as well that all integrate well with each other.

Don’t force them to visit your Facebook page when they hang out on a forum or message board. These should all make sense to you, but if they don’t then spend some time on FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or your favorite message board and try reaching out to someone you don’t know.

Using a comments system like Disqus to stand out (where people can comment with multiple social profiles) instead of using a separate registration page as many of them require. Promoting a DIY Green guide which no other blogs are.
