Now, I agree that it is good to disconnect to spend time with family and friends but not when you’re traveling for work and need access. I can even sort of access Twitter by going through TweetDeck. you switch to the new signal in the country your travelling in. It was definitely frustrating but understandable.

If you are viewing your newsfeed and see that an update is from an app (this includes HootSuite, Spotify, Tweetdeck, NetworkedBlogs, or anything with an icon), you can click on the dropdown arrow next to the update and select the Hide All by _. It’s definitely one to play with because of its odd behavoir. Military Service.

Twitter Tweetdeck I use Tweetdeck for serious twitter sessions. It doesn’t have the advanced functionality of Tweetdeck (such as cross-posting to Facebook), but it’s so easy-to-use that it’s my favorite Twitter app. Extremely handy while traveling, I also highly recommend Nutshell for casual social media users.

The Twitter integration in Netvibes actually includes the very same functionality of Tweetdeck. In fact, it’s so good that I have now uninstalled Tweetdeck from my Mac as this online version has some features even Tweetdeck was missing. I’ll definitely try this out and let you know how it works.

I personally know that I check Tweetdeck, Facebook, and my email inbox far more often than necessary. If there’s a big yellow Tweetdeck button in my Dock or some links shared by my friends on Facebook, I’m going to want to click around. Definitely recommend you check it out! I would try to Google it for sure.

HootSuite puts all the accounts in one single interface (you can do the same with TweetDeck and Seesmic, I believe), but in terms of passwords, I usually use KeePass to store them with other relevant account information. My followers on this group definitely would not be interested in my political or societal views.

Turn off all things that aren’t necessary to helping you get things done (Tweetdeck / IM / Facebook – possibly even the internet) and your distractions will be greatly minimised. Definitely, though I wouldn’t say that it’s a quick way to make money. Why are you not building a mailing list for ViperChill?
