Write a white paper justifying why it shouldn’t be blocked. Hard, but definitely not impossible. I encourage all of my fellows in government to find ways to meet their mission needs through community building and social media technologies. Those are excuses, not reasons. Meet with your boss about it.

As you might imagine, neither of these conclusions bode well for the long-term health of a virtual community behind the firewall. Do you want cross-team collaboration on a white paper? Lastly, be a community manager. I wanted to model the behavior that people could/should take when participating in that online community.

Social media is by definition slow. You have to create content, be part of many communities, and proceed incrementally. Over the last 7 months I’ve certainly walked the walk of social media marketing and this post is as plain and simple as a definition gets. Social Media is Fast False.
