Alterian SM2 – formerly Techrigy SM2, this social media monitoring and analysis tool was designed with marketing departments, and public relations companies in mind. Pretty good setup for those that are somewhat hesitant to take a chance on a social media monitoring site.

To be fair, I’ve only included those I’ve actually used (Radian6, Sysomos, Spiral 16) or tested (Meltwater, SM2). I'm currently using SM2 for most of my clients, and like how easy it is to use. On your chart, you show that SM2 can get down to the state level on the geographic filter. I do have a question for you though.

And then there are monitoring tools like Alterian's SM2 that are out of most people's price ranges. There are free and inexpensive tools that do just about the same thing Google Analytics can do, except that GA also shows bounce rate. So, it's not that PR professionals don't think these questions are important.
