Since it’s been over a month putting their current figures in the table won’t make for an accurate comparison, but I’ll include them in the next full update. Thanks for putting together this comparison. As of today GlobalPost has 1,892 fans and based on their last 10 updates, they are averaging 2.3

But it is possible to make some basic comparisons using data from some of the free tools that are available. PostRank has a comparison tool that uses its Domain Activity API to measure total engagement based on user participation across multiple social platforms.

I agree too that it’s not an apples to apples comparison, but social media is certainly having a big influence on the ways that people follow team news and support their teams in general. And of course social media is not a popularity contest; it’s how you engage your followers/fans that really matters.

The usual caveats: Social media isn’t a popularity contest and reach does not equal influence, engagement or action These figures will quickly be out-of-date (they probably were before I could hit the “publish” button) But those things aside, it is interesting to take a snapshot at various times for the purposes of comparison.
