To find out where your audience is hiding, I recommend searching: Google : Try keyphrases such as “top blogs on [niche],&# “[niche] forum,&# “[niche] community&# Facebook : Search using the form on the top right of the site for keywords relating to your market. An avatar can really be anything that you like.

Add an avatar and a bio at the minimum. I’m not connected to the LinkedIn individual who spammed me, but he still took the liberty to use my email address for his personal gain in a completely unsolicited fashion. FriendFeed is a service but it’s also a community. There is no reason to make a personal request.

Really great conference, very good community. Ideally, what you want to create is some kind of avatar or persona or reader profile for your blog. Include a sentence or two about who is reading your blog, and maybe refer to the avatar if you’ve done that exercise. I think that’s a useful exercise to do. The use of block quotes.
