I also agree that ThinkGeek's approach with two Twitter feeds to satisfy the needs of different audiences (attitudinally based vs. demographically- or even activity-based) is a step in the right direction. I get Twitter follows based on keywords, where robots are obviously being used.

Don’t forget the conversations hiding in Twitter (use Summize.com) and Friendfeed. Facebook and/or MySpace are useful social networks where you can build outposts (see next list). Build a similar outpost on MySpace, if your audience might be there. The applications here work for both the individual or the organization.
