around the Twitterverse last week with the news that Twitter is in talks with TweetDeck to purchase the ridiculously popular third-party service for the low, low price of just $50 million. Considering UberMedia was rumored to be in the mix to buy TweetDeck for $30 million just a few weeks ago, that’s very interesting news.

I wrote a post about the potential of Twitter to buy TweetDeck just two weeks ago. (To A lot of doom and gloom if you believe the people over at TechCrunch (they also broke the story that a deal was done between TweetDeck and Twitter on Monday). So, as far as Web presence went, we still had the blog and the official Facebook and Twitter accounts. Twitter was by far the busiest place. My Tweetdeck has three columns dedicated to the University: “University of Regina,” “@UofRegina,” and “U of Regina.”. Those last two are managed by Student Recruitment.

A friend, whom I have introduced to Twitter, sends me emails with questions about various Twitter tools. When someone who is starting on Twitter or doesn’t have much of a network uses them, it tells me several things about them. If one uses Twitter for tweeting, then they have one column showing their stream.

Automated responses, particularly on Twitter are quite common, though not always accurate. The tool lets you schedule multiple posts for your Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts simultaneously. Followerwonk is a Twitter analytics tool. Every conversation has a context, and clearly bots don’t always get it right.
