It can either be pushed to you (RSS and email for example), or you can set out looking for it yourself (on Google, for example). Syndic8 and RSS Feeds have just about every feed you could imagine. Subscribe now to the full RSS feed. Your information management strategy should consist of the right mix of push and pull.

For example, everyone in your firm who has a presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, Plaxo and other social media, in their auto-signatures in email, your newsletters, and any other places you can think of, should be including a mention and a link to this Fan Page, which then invites them to become a Fan. Give people a reason to find you there.

Basically it helps you schedule meetings right in your Google calendar, by detecting (usually quite accurately) times being discussed via email. Soocial : a really nice online address book, and something I prefer greatly to Plaxo, which is what I used to use, until it decided it wanted to be something other than Plaxo.

I tend to use a combination of Technorati alerts on my name and blog name sent directly to a special folder in my Google RSS reader. Plus I also use Tweetscan for twitter mentions and Samepoint for comment mentions all sent directly to a personal brand folder in my Google RSS Reader. Here is how.
