Simply doing a search for a social media mention or profile isn’t enough, some companies want to look into your personal posts as well. Maybe it’s a mention of a great weekend away on a blog, photos on Facebook, Twitter or Flickr, a video on youtube of you being silly. Apparently this is all too common.

Even though they’re not official on Facebook we still use them there as well as Pinterest, Twitter Tumblr, Flickr and Google+. Use multiple platforms. Hashtags exist on several platforms. If you really want to get mileage out of this, use it on as many networks as you can, but only the ones where you already have a valid presence.

Imagine my delight at finding Photopin a free resource for creative commons licensed photos pulled from Flickr. I sat down with this and whipped out a beautiful presentation on creating a social media strategy in less than an hour, all with creative commons licensed images, sweet fonts and an easy to use (though minimalistic) UI.
