Here’s a screenshot of a story that became popular with a whopping 235 Diggs. It was taken the night of January 28, 2008 (approximately 11PM EST): While Digg typically allowed stories to hit the front page within 80-120 votes (the latter being more rare than normal), it’s now requiring almost double the number.

One of the topics was microblogging, and Twitter was discussed. Since then, the students have formed their own vibrant community on Twitter. Ive found out, that it is far too easy to be dragged to only one larger and very live community (Facebook for example) and to forget about all of the rest web 2.0 ReadWriteWeb. 25 Comments.

Patience is required in building a community, seeing real results with monetization and building traffic. Some people are able to build a community but fail at monetizing their blogs. When dealing with emotions, psychology, anthropology, sociology, among other disciplines, you’re bound to make “mistakes&# as you attempt to understand demographics and communities and learn about who will be receptive to what. It should be about growing the community, not cutting new people off while they learn the ropes.
