To address this, we decided to use both Yammer and Adobe Connect , allowing chatting and live audio/video. platform – hello.bah.com. From here, we coordinated all our planning and outreach efforts. Everything was falling into place.

That’s why I love a tool like Yammer. Yammer is a microblogging application similar to Twitter, only it’s focused on businesses. Sending a message using Yammer is a combination of sending IMs and sending questions to email distribution lists. Not every user base is ready to just jump right in and use a wiki.

We all face these competing priorities, but we also have to make community participation and professional growth a priority as well. In 2010, I hope that I’m able to turn this into reality.

To add on to your ideas, I would also suggest that organizations would do well to invest in community managers – those people who blog, garden wiki pages, and moderate forums as their primary job. These are risks that many aren’t willing to take, but the community manager needs to be empowered to do so on behalf of the community.
