We established the hashtag that we would use when blogging or Yammering about the Uconference. To address this, we decided to use both Yammer and Adobe Connect , allowing chatting and live audio/video. Do you have a space from where the conversation can continue after the event (wiki page, forum, blog, etc.)?

I was rarely able to carve out an hour a day to read and comment on other blogs, discussion forums, online communities and books. We all face these competing priorities, but we also have to make community participation and professional growth a priority as well. In 2010, I hope that I’m able to turn this into reality.

As you might imagine, neither of these conclusions bode well for the long-term health of a virtual community behind the firewall. So, what do I tell these folks when they ask me why no one is reading their forum posts, commenting on their blogs, or editing their wiki pages? Post your blog entry, wiki content, forum thread, etc.

implementations of blogs, wikis, or forums not living up to the expectations of the technology? To add on to your ideas, I would also suggest that organizations would do well to invest in community managers – those people who blog, garden wiki pages, and moderate forums as their primary job. Use email less (internally) – One thing I’ve realized is that if I keep answering people’s emails, people will continue to send them to me, even if I explicitly tell them that they’re more likely to get a hold of me by posting their question/comment to my internal blog, contact me on Yammer, use my internal wiki page, etc.
