20% of those surveyed said they used the site once but no longer do. So why did so many users take a self-enforced tile out on the dominant social network in the country? Only 8% of those who don’t use Facebook now are even interested in using the site in the future. 21% said they just didn’t have time.

They’re social. This data is based on surveys, but in my experience working with millennials they are a diverse group and generalizations don’t always fit. Mobile is the #1 platform of choice and apps like Amazon, Groupon and Shop Kick are top hits. We respond so much better to a person than a nameless marketing team.

I’ve been gratified and a little puzzled by some of the people who follow me on Twitter (or any other social network for that matter). I did a little rough surveying of my Twitter friends and it seems there are really only a few ways people make the decision to follow or not follow on Twitter.

I follow almost 4,000 people on Twitter , over 1500 on Linkedin , and more on Facebook , Google+ , blogs , forums, a zillion social networks, wikis and more. Heck, you can deliver a pile of information and have an admin split it up into items you can share on your social networks and schedule them for you.
