Remember that link building should not just be solely for increasing search engine rankings or building up PageRank. Links can do this regardless of whether or not they contain the “nofollow” attribute, contain redirects, come from a site with a high PageRank , and so on. I like to focus on building search engine traffic to my sites because once you have rankings you can usually sustain them with little effort and the traffic they send is very targeted. If you’re entering an industry with a brand new site, the last thing you want to do is wait that long for some good search engine traffic.

Along with Twitter , Digg , Reddit , and other social media websites , Google’s blog search can even bring in some great traffic to your blog. There were the usual suspects but the Google Custom Search Engine was new.
