Directory Submissions By nature, directory links are of a very poor quality. Sometimes I’ll also pay $100 or so to BOTW.org which is a human-filtered directory which can give me some great link juice. As soon as I’m cached in this directory I find my rankings to increase almost instantly. This is gold.

I’m competing against them in one industry and all factors would suggest I should outrank them, but I simply don’t. They’re simply registering on tons of forums and profile websites, placing their link in their bio’s, and then ranking well for their keyphrase. 1 site ranking Wikihow. The market is insanely huge.

Using directories for links. Anglo Rank was a small network being promoted on the Black Hat World forums. I am utilising them because we’re not competing on a fair playing field, and what is supposed to work is very rarely what ranks, at least in the industries that I operate in. And because they have such a huge brand and user base already, even if you wanted to compete with them using this exact same tactic – which Google don’t like – you would stand little chance. They have some forums, but even the hosting section I could only see one recent thread on actual hosting companies, which has 2 posts.
