Writing a blog post or building links to new site is far more important than updating Twitter, reading the latest guide to blogging secrets or constantly monitoring your stats. I also love that if I block something like Twitter, then that will stop Tweetdeck from working. – Instead of using WriteRoom check out OmmWriter.

My other activities – buying and building niche websites – simply takes up far too much of my time. If I had more time I would be more active on services like Twitter, leave comments on other blogs and try to build better relationships with readers, but right now my schedule just doesn’t allow that.

Once your audience reaches a certain size, you can slow down (or stop) with activities like blog commenting and guest posts. Besides reading your favourite blogs, checking email and logging into Twitter, what have you done? Now that I’m using netvibes this is no longer the case (thanks Glen). soI win either way.

This might not sound great but everyone active online in any space online is generally just thinking about what’s in it for them. With the introduction of Twitter and sites like StumbleUpon, people are more inclined to ’share’ sites, rather than link to them from their own blogs.
