Twitter got its big break-through at SXSW in 2007. Tips: Don’t just hang out with people you already know. If you spend the whole time with people you could meet any day of the week normally, you’re missing out. As I mentioned above, take advantage of the opportunity to get out, meet new people and make new connections.

And that’s before we get into the likes of Paper.li, or Flipboard etc. (I That was around the same time as Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google.
